Early Times Report

JAMMU, Mar 5: The Police today foiled the Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture Technocrats (Rehbar-e-Zairat) march towards Civil Secretariat by detaining about 150 activists when the agriculture technocrats under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Agriculture Technocrats Association (JKATA) tried to proceed towards Civil Secretariat.
Earlier, following the 'gherao' call of the Civil Secretariat, activists of JKATA gathered at Exhibition Ground and also staged a demonstration there. While staging protest, Rehbar-e-Zairat's demanded regularization on the pattern of the Rehber-e-Taleem.
Later, when the activists under the banner of JKATA tried to march towards Civil Secretariat, there was a minor scuffle between the activists and police personnel deployed there. Police tried to stop the march at Dogra Chowk detaining the activists and shifting them to the District Police Lines (DPL) where the technocrats were taken into preventive custody. Later, the Technocrats were released. Surinder Radotra, President of Association JKATA demanded batch wise regularization. He further said that the state government should look into their matter seriously as some technocrats are going to complete five years of regular services in April this year and that too with a meager salary of Rs 3000 per month.
He alleged that the government announced new recruitment policy on the pattern of Rehbar-e-Taleem according to which the new recruit will be regularized after five years of services.
He further alleged that the government approved cabinet decision according to which the technocrats after competing seven years in 2014, eight years in 2015 and nine years of services in 2016 in the Agriculture Department and that too with a meager amount of Rs. 1500, 3000 and 4500 as stipend will be regularized.
Dr Khursheed Ahmed President Kashmir division alleged that the government has not given a proper justification to them.
Dr Maneet Singh, Dr Yasir, Dr Jyoti, Dr Vinod, Dr Riyaz rather and others were also present in the demonstration.
