Working Women asked to be strong to face challenges
JK College of Education organizes seminar on eve of Women's Day

JAMMU, Mar 5: Working women should be strong enough to take up the challenges of life by rubbing shoulders with their male counterparts and come as a winner in this competitive world of 21st century. This was stated by Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Home Guards, Civil Defence and Auxillary, Dr R Doley Barman while addressing the students of JK College of Education in a state level seminar organised to commemorate International Women's Day at the college premises, here today.
Mentioning the evolution of the status of women from medieval period of modern times, this top women cop of the state police said, " Women, especially those belongs to working class, should be strong enough to take up the challenges. She urged their female counterparts working different fields to be proud of their feminity. Earlier, chairperson of the seminar, Director Distance Education, University of Jammu, Dr Meenakshi Kilam said, stressed the need of bending the rules instead of breaking the rules for the women in the professional arena.
Another eminent speaker, Principal of MIER College of Education, Dr Renu Gupta emphasized that women working on the higher level should be gender sensitive and should show empathy towards her female subordinates.
Principal, MC Khalsa College, Dr Madhu Singh was satisfied with the increasing number of women in every field but she mentioned that the road is not as easy as it seems.
Advocate Ms Rozina said that the role of women has changed and the pressure is the biggest challenge for them, especially while making a balance between home and office. She stressed for needed cooperation from the family for progressive women. Principal of host JK College of Education, Shashi Choudhary shared her own experiences as working women. She urged the women to be committed towards their professional and personal lives with conviction. Urmil Mehta, a faculty member of the college also spoke on the occasion.The seminar concluded with Director of JK Education Society, Brig. (Retd.), Sukhdev Singh saluting the spirit of working women. He praised the speakers in the seminar for highlighting different aspects of working women and thanked them on behalf of the management for accepting the invitation.
Later, Chairman of the College, Raj Daluja honoured the prominent speakers by presenting them mementos.
