J&K College Teachers Association held meet

JAMMU, Mar 5: J&K College Teachers Association (Jammu Wing) led by its President Dr Avinash Kumar Gupta called on Professor M P Singh Isher, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu.
Registrar, Controller examinations and director colleges development also attended the meeting. The Association expressed its strong resentment over appointment of some junior faculty members of a private College as Superintendents in Government Degree College, Billawar to conduct B.Sc Part III Annual examinations.
The Association demanded that this strange decision where senior Government College Teachers would have to work under junior Private College faculty be withdrawn immediately to maintain the sanctity of university examinations.
It was also pointed out that the university should also check whether these private college teachers were eligible to perform such duties in view of the UGC guidelines.
Other issues which were extensively discussed with the University authorities included holding of one Semester Ph.D Course work for College teachers in Summer Break, holding of university examinations simultaneously within stipulated time, increase in representation of College Teachers in University bodies, consideration of principals & senior college teachers for various positions in the university, previously used to be held by college cadre, rationalization & enhancement of remuneration for examination assignments and clearance of pending remuneration bills. The VC directed the concerned officials to clear pending bills by the end of this month and assured the delegation to favorably consider the other raised issues.
Dr Satesh Bhan, General Secretary, Prof. R.S.Jamwal & Prof Anjali Mahajan, Vice Presidents, Dr C.K.Khajuria, Treasurer, Prof. Neeraj Gupta, joint Treasurer,Prof. Jagdish Kumar organizing secretary, Prof. Joginder Singh, Publicity Secretary were also present in the discussion.
