Patwar Association calls off six day long strike on assurance of Bhalla

JAMMU, Mar 6: J&K Patwar Association today called off its six day long strike after getting an assurance by the Government that its long pending demands will be resolved. The assurance was given to the representatives of Patwar Association in a meeting here today by Minister of Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla. With this assurance the Association decided to call of their six day long strike which had started on March 1.The meeting was attended by Finance Commissioner Revenue, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Deputy Commissioner Jammu from government side while the Patwaris Association was represented by Khurshid Ahmed Tantry, president of the Association, Mohammed Yasin Mir its vice president, Mohammed Sarwar Lone its general secretary, Mohammed Sayeed provincial president Kashmir and Raman Raj, provincial president, Jammu. Bhalla after listening the demands of the Association urged the authorities to project their demand regarding the removal of pay anomaly in right perspective so that the genuine demand is fulfilled by ending this month.
The Financial Commissioner Revenue announced in the meeting that the promotion/placement orders of Girdawar Qanoongos as Naib Tehsildars will also be issued by ending this month. Besides the Vigilance Organization will also be approached to clear the pending cases of the Girdawars and Qanoongos which are lying with it for clearance so that the promotion process is expedited. The Minister also issued directives to the authorities to look into the case regarding the commitments made with the Association in 2007. The Association representatives alleged that despite the assurances that the chances for the qualification of Departmental examination from four to eight has not been fulfilled till date.Bhalla also assured the Association, which was demanding that the post of Naib Tehsildars be kept reserved for promotion quota on the analogy of masters in School Education Department that the matter will be examined in the light of the existing rules and directions from the Apex Court and High Court issued from time to time.
Bhlla also issued directives to the authorities to take up the issue regarding construction of Patwar khanas be taken up with Planning Department.
He informed the Association that the report regarding the rationalization of Patwar halqas is under examination of the Department.
It may be recalled that Association had earlier given strike call for resolution of their demands from Marc 1 to 3 and later the call was extended to March 6 but after the assurance from government the association called of its strike.
