Following burglary in shop, people block road | | | Early Times Report Kishtwar Mar 6: A burglary last night took place in an electronic shop situated in the busy market at bus stand here, only few hundred metres from police station, Kishtwar. It was the 8th burglary in the town in the past less than two weeks.According to police, burglars stole 40 mobile phone sets of different companies, recharge vouchers, 50 memory cards and other electronic items from Toyeeb Electronics. The cost of the stolen items was said to be about Rs 2 lakh, the sources added. After receiving the complaint from shop owner Ajaiz Ahmed Trak, police registered a case under sections 457 and 380 of RPC.Police said the burglars broke the locks of the shop and entered it. Naushed Ali, a helper in the shop, said when in the morning he came to open the shop, he found locks of the shutter broken. Accordingly, he brought the matter to the notice of the owner who informed police. Meanwhile, local shopkeepers held a protest and blocked the national highway outside J&K Bank here for more than 30 minutes. They were demanding immediate arrest of those who were involved in series of theft cases that had taken place in Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas in last two weeks. They demanded intensification of patrolling by police in Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas. They later lifted the blockade on the intervention of police officers who told them that the department was already searching for the culprits. |
