NC responsible for the plight of pandits: PDP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Mar 6: Expr-essing concern over condition of the Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) in J&K especially during the last three years, which had worsened due to economic reasons, Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) general secretary Mohd Dilawar Mir slams the lazy efforts of the present government to address the issues of pandits. Mir was addressing party workers at Jagti, here today. Mir said that the present coalition government has not shown its seriousness towards the settlement of the Kashmiri pandits and the problems they face, and is only making hollow claims for their safe and honored return to the valley. Mir said the brotherhood and social bonds between Kashmiri muslims and pandiths has its own history and needs to be strengthened. He stressed upon the need of the interaction between the new generations of the two communities so that the young people would understand the old traditions and the bonds of brotherhood of the Kashmiriat. Speaking on the occasion, Qazi Mohd Afzal made an appeal to the pandits to raise above party politics and respond to the issues confronting the community collectively. He reiterated that unless the Kashmiri pandits are politically empowered, their return to valley is not possible. "The community always suffered in the absence of political space in the valley," he said. MLA Sofi Abdul Gaffar urged the government to come up with proper blueprint for addressing all problems being faced by the community. On the occasion senior leaders Nanajee Wattal, S K Raina and Satesh Thaploo were also present and addressed the gathering. |
