To oppose the decision to hold local bodies' elections, the HSS activists led by their president Dimpy Kohli and general secretary G I Singh staged a protest demonstration at Shakti Nagar condemning the state government for its 'non-serious' approach. While talking to media persons, General Secretary GI Singh said that the decision of the Govern-ment is totally wrong and malafide because there are large number of irregularities in the voters' list. Singh said that during last eight years right from 2005 to 2012 no new voter has been added in the voters' list and there are large number of young aspirants waiting for their voter ID card. Those youngsters who were about 16-17 years old are now 26 years old and have the right to vote but being deprived of their right to franchise, he added. Singh said that Hindustan Shiv Sena totally opposes Municipal elections unless and until the names of new voters are included, old areas of Sunjwan, Bhatindi, Sector E, F and G of Sainik Colony in the Municipality and announcements of rotation of reserved seats. HSS leader urged the Chief Minister not to hold Municipal elections in haste without readdressing irregularities and discrepancies. He also appealed to all political parties to protest against the decision of the government for holding Municipal Elections. |
