Kranti Dal demands probe into irregularities in voters' lists | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Mar 7: Expre-ssing its resentment over the alleged irregularities in the voters' list for the forthcoming municipal elections, the Kranti Dal organized a protest at Press Club her today. The protest was led by its working chairman Anan Sharma, president Raj Roop Singh and general secretary Pritam Sharma. Addressing the protesting Kranti Dal activists, Anan Sharma said that there are lot of discrepancies in the voters' list. The decision of this 'corrupt' government to hold municipal election is anti-Jammu, he added. He further stated that not even a single new voter has been added in the voter list right from February 2005 to February 2012 in the last eight years. "The voter list is full of mistakes with most of the names having no mention. The height of the irregularities could be gauged from the fact that the names of even those candidates who lost the previous election by a margin of 2 or 4 votes are not found in the list," Anan Sharma said further adding, "This is a well planned conspiracy." Pritam Sharma said that the voter-I cards of 1.5 lakh youth are lying in NIC, Delhi (Ghaziabad) but J&K govt. doesn't have the requisite funds to acquire the same as stated by state EC, B R Sharma. Kranti Dal demands an inquiry into the irregularities in the voters' list before notification for the municipal elections. |
