BSP condemns curtailment in Amarnath yatra period | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 9 : Lambasting Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) and the state government for reducing the Amarnath Yatra period, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) said today that religious sentiments of crores of devotees are attached to the pilgrimage and at no cost it should be interfered. In a meeting of the party held here today at Sakaiter under the chairmanship of its state General Secretary Rakesh Wazir, the workers besides reviewing the party, strongly condemned the latest move of the Government and Shri Amar Nath Shrine Board to curtail the Amarnath Yatra period. State president of the party Tulsi Dass Langeh was also present on the occasion. Langeh while speaking on the occasion said that Shri Amarnath Yatra besides providing livelihood to lakh and lakh of people of state is the matter of religious sentiments and at no cost be interfered with. He said that period of Amar Nath Yatra is already too less and any move to reduce it further will be opposed strongly and has asked the state government and Governor in particular to intervene into it and increase its duration to more than 2 months instead of decreasing it. Besides this issue State Gen. Secretary of the party, Rakesh Wazir while speaking on the occasion asked the authorities for adequate compensation of the land coming under the newly aligned highway to the people. |
