Peace with hunger cannot sustain-Tarigami | | | Bashir Assad Jammu, Mar 9 : Asserting that hunger cannot wait and somehow it promotes violence and aberrations in the society CPI(M) legislator M Y Tarigami termed the Budget 2012-13 as jugglery of words which offers nothing to the under privileged sections of the society. Terming the Sheri-i-Kashmir Employment Welfare Program for Youth (SKEWPY) as redundant on account of the conditionality's applied therein Tarigami said that there was no concrete proposal for addressing the phenomenon of unemployment in the state. Tarigami demanded that contractualization was no solution to the problem of unemployment and demanded that contractualism and adhocism should be abolished. Criticizing the government for appointing chairmen's to various public sector undertakings Tarigami said, "What is the fun of appointing chairmen's to PSU's when these PSU's were not contributing anything rather running on losses. This is only for generation of political employment" Tarigami said adding that State Accountability Commission has rightly taken cognizance of. Underlining the need for radical approach Tarigami said that the state government has to come out of the set frame to bring reforms in infrastructure development and social sectors. About the Transfer of Property (Amendment Bill) tabled in the House in order to pave way for leasing out land to NHPC for construction of Packaldul, Kewa and Kera projects on river Chenab, Tarigami said that proposing lease for 90 years rather than 40 years negates the claims of the government that it was contemplating to take back some power projects from NHPC. "You are becoming suspicious as you have become in many other things" Tarigami said and added that the government was delay delaying the return of power projects from NHPC. NHPC cannot be masters for whatever we generate from our resources Tarigami said. |
