Mess in JKCA ; Farooq Abdullah transferred BCCI funds in his personal account | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Mar 9 : The sacking of two office bearers of jammu and Kashmir cricket association, Ehsan Mirza and Saleem Khan is just to divert the attention of the media and people from the mess in JKCA. The sources say that the nomination of Aslam Goni is also against rule book of the association. A former general secretary of the association told ET that Farooq Abdullah nominated Goni, his confident throwing rules to wind. He was supposed to get the approval of the board members which never sought, he added. He said, the working committee again constituted against rules, favour one person from Channapora by him Deodar sleepers (Over 16000 cut in volume) which were already erected in the Sher-i-Kashmir cricket stadium at Sonwar. The said person was given the deodar planks at the throwaway rate of Rs. 212 per cft as against the prevailing market rate of 2400 per cft . Surprisingly, jammu and Kashmir cricket association members even felled several chinars from the existing cricket stadium in sonwar and sold the timber of those trees as well. Pertinent to mention is that the chinar cutting is ban in law in jammu and Kashmir. BCCI has allotted Rs 50 crores for the construction two stadia and one cricket academy in Srinagar. The amount was in withdrawn from the association account at number occasions and transferred in to the personal account of former chief minister Farooq Abdullah. According to the sources, the breakaway group of the cricket association has photocopies of the cheques which goes to prove that the money was transferred in the personal account of Farooq Abdullah. The members of the association has already moved the district court in Srinagar against misdeeds of the office bearers of the JKCA besides Farooq Abdullah. "Farooq used to snub us when we used to raise our objections to any of his acts," former office bearer said. Last year in August media ignored the press conference of president Kashmir cricket club M L Nehru who had described the JKCA as private business of few. Nehru, who has remained the general secretary of the association had alleged that transparency in accounts did not exist anywhere in the JKCA . The construction work of the Academy building at Srinagar was surprisingly allotted without calling proper tenders , the source said. Raising of demand by PDP president Mehbooba Mufti of registering case against Farooq Abdullah is just and fair. She alleged :"This is the latest caseof embezzlement to the tune of Rs 50 crore that surfaced in JKCA and it's only a tip of the iceberg. One office bearer has been terminated and other has been asked to resign but basically, JKCA is headed by Farooq Abdullah and there should be an FIR registered against him." Mehbooba rightfully argued When FIR can be registered against (Suresh) Kalmadi and investigations done, why can't it be done against Farooq Abdullah . "Why double standards?" she asked. . Meanwhile, sources said, the JKCA general-secretary, Ehsan Mirza, and former treasurer and chief administrative officer, Saleem Khan, have been asked to resign from their respective posts following the reported disclosure that account books had not been maintained properly during his stint as its treasurer. Both Mirza and Khan quit the office positions. |
