SAMMILAN 2012 Inaugurated at MIET

JAMMU, Mar 10: SAMMILAN, 2012 the fourth edition of the national level technical cum cultural festival for engineering students got underway today at the Model Institute of Engineering and Technology (MIET), Kot Bhalwal.
The chief guest Minister for Technical Education, Youth Affairs, Sports and Medical Education Er R S Chib inaugurated the festival which presided over by Dr. Arun K. Gupta, Chairman MIER Group of Institutions,
Chief Guest R S Chib in his address appreciated the growth of MIET in the last decade. He was also impressed to see the scale of the event planned and executed by the students of MIET. The minister expressed confidence in the ability of the students and MIET as an institution in continuing to raise the bar of achievement higher with each passing year. Dr Arun K Gupta formally welcomed the Chief Guest and described him as a model politician, a son-of-the-soil and deeply committed to societal amelioration. Congratulating the faculty and students for taking the initiative in organizing SAMMILAN'12, he lauded the spirit of MIET students in conceiving and executing an event of such large proportions. Maj Gen (Retd.), Prof S K Sharma, Principal, MIET felt that festivals like Sammilan are an essential ingredient of higher technical education and provided a platform for showcasing non-academic talent of the students. Director, MIER Dr Renu Gupta described the successful event as reflective of the immense confidence of MIET students.
Other dignitaries present on the occasion were M K Wali, Consultant BOPEE, Joy Ganjoo, Chairman IETE and MD Lotus Industries, Prof Pawnesh Abrol, Secy IETE and Associate Professor, JU, Ashok Gupta DGM, PNB and Pradeep Dutta, Bureau Chief, Times Now Group, Jammu.
Dr Ankur Gupta, Joint Director, MIET proposed the formal vote of thanks.
Later more than 1500 students participated in varied technical, literary and management related events throughout the day with enthusiasm.
The festival was sponsored by Aircel (Gold Sponsor), Punjab National Bank, IETE (Technical Sponsor), BIG 92.7 FM, Journey Line, Take One (Media Partners), Hero Honda - Dhawan Automobiles, ISTE, Amtrak Technologies, INIFD and VLCC.
