Sopore Police solves murder case
Arrests accused from Mumbai

Srinagar, Mar 10 : Sopore Police have been able to arrest a person, who is allegedly involved in murder of a shopkeeper, from Mumbai.
On February 7 Police Station Panzala had found one unidentified body with strangulation marks in forest compartment no 14 adjacent to village Braman, Lariangan, Rafiababd of Police District Sopore.
On this, case FIR No 07/2012 u/s 302 RPC was registered in police station Panzala. The physical examination of the body revealed injury and strangulation marks and it appeared to be the case of blind murder. The identity of deceased was established as Mohammed Sidiq Khan son of Yaar Mohammed of Manzgam, Boniyar. A Special Investigation Team headed by SDPO Mushtaq Ahmad during the investigation was able to identify the accused within 24 hours. It was also revealed that deceased has been buying sheep wool from different localities and in the process he developed acquaintance with one Mohammed Ishaq Yatoo son of Abdul Ahad of Chijhama, Rafiabad."One the day before the murder of deceased, Ishaq asked him to come to his place along with some money around Rs one lakh as he will provide him sheep wool at very cheap rates. The deceased was enticed and after meeting Ishaq they both went to Braman Lariangan. Expecting that the deceased shall be possessing about Rs one lakh, Ishaq on way near forest area suddenly stroked the victim with a thick wooden can stick thus making him unconscious," Superintendent of Police Sopore, Imtiyaz Hussain told KNS. "Thereafter he smacked the victims head multiple times to ensure that he is dead. He as well strangulated him with drawstring of the victim's trouser. The accused then took away the cash of deceased which he was possessing at the time of his death," he added.
SP Hussain said that after the commission of the crime the accused fled to Mumbai where he had been earlier working as private security guard. "This was a case of blind murder and police was able to establish the identity of the accused within 24 hours but the accused person had absconded and was hiding in Mumbai," he said. After obtaining arrest warrant against the absconding accused from CJM Sopore a police team led by SI Javaid Gulzar proceeded to Mumbai who after strenuous efforts tracked him in Ghavandi Chamboor area of Mumbai and arrested him with the assistance of Mumbai Police.The accused was brought to Kashmir on a transit remand by Mumbai Metropolitan Holiday Court and has been remanded to police custody by local court in Sopore. "On the instance and identification of accused the weapon of fence was also recovered. The case will soon be charge sheeted for judicial determination," police added.
