NSF protests against "traffic chaos" on Jammu roads | | | Early Times Report Jammu, mar 11: National Secular Forum (NSF) activists and youth of Jammu city led by president Vikas Sharma protested and raised slogans in University against failure of traffic department, JMC, ERA, PWD, R &B and JDA to solve traffic problems, problems created by ERA sewerage works which have damaged roads in the city west constituency in particular. Sharma alleged that ERA has damaged all the roads, lanes and drains which have made the life of people and traders depressed. He said that neither PWD, R&B and nor the JMC is ready to own the responsibility. He alleged that the officials concerning department at the helm of the affairs have failed to control traffic problems. Vikas Sharma urged upon the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to personally intervene and take effective steps to solve the worsening traffic problems in Jammu city and particularly in the University Road. "The proposals regarding construction of flyovers at Jewel Chowk, Bikram Chowk and new circular roads have been hanging fire", he said while appealing to the Chief Minister to take steps for giving practical shape to these proposals. He demanded construction of four- way circular road from Bikram Chowk to High Court, Janipur and Jewel Chowk to Talab Tillo to ease traffic rush. He asked the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to start the Metro rails in Jammu city and to the adjoining towns of the district. NSF leader also sought installation of traffic signal lights in the city and to ban the pressure horns and the practice of over- loading. Among those who were present in the Protest included, Surjit Choudhary, Ravi Chou dhary, Sukdev Singh, PP Singh, Balveer Kumar, Sunil Kumar, Sanjeev Sharma, Randeep Singh, Gagandeep Singh, Sunny Sharma, Sandeep Singh and others. |
