| Idea XI scripts thrilling 1-wkt win over Young Star | | | Early times report
JAMMU, Mar 11: Idea XI registered a thrilling last-ball victory over Young Star Cricket Club (YSCC) in an exhibition cricket match, organized by YSCC at MA Stadium, here today. Chasing a modest total of 119 runs, Idea XI needed one run on the last ball of the match with one wicket in hand, which they did successfully to notch an exciting victory by one wicket. Deepak was the top scorer with 24 runs including four boundaries, while Sahil Banotra (16) and Hartaj (14) were other major contributors. Rohan and Tarun chipped in with 13 runs each, while Vishal contributed 11 runs to the total. Yudha was most successful bowler from Young Star Club, who took 3 wickets by conceding 17 runs in his 4 overs, while Rishab Gupta and Dimple claimed 2 wickets each. Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Young Star Club managed to score 118 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 6 wickets in the process. Naresh Kumar and Rattandeep Sharma were the major contributors with 34 and 29 runs respectively. Both the batsmen smashed 2 boundaries each in their knocks. No other batsman could reach the double figure mark. For Idea XI, Deepak captured 2 wickets by giving away 19 runs in his quota of 4 overs, while Rohan and Tarun claimed one wicket each. For his all-round performance Deepak of Idea XI was adjudged man of the match.
The match was officiated by Shashi Pal and Rajeev as umpires, while Sunil Kumar acted as scorer. Young Star shall take on Bagh-e-Bahu Cricket Club in the second exhibition match at the same venue tomorrow. |
