Child abuse on rise in Kathua
3/11/2012 11:43:28 PM
Early Times Report

KATHUA, Mar 11: Child labour is on peak in Kathua but concerned labour department is still quite over the menace. Some rich families including bureaucrats, business houses and politicians are exploiting the days of school education and joys of childhood of innocent children less than fourteen years of age.
The heinous and dreadful crime is not by common man it is committing by the so well educated and well to do families, they are exploiting the potential of innocent kids who belongs to rural areas and the far flung hilly areas of District Kathua. The restaurants, shops, houses of the politicians and bureaucrats in factories and several other sectors where the child labour can be seen on peak.
These children do the hard and heavy works in the said sectors on meager wages and the health of these children is also so badly affected with unlimited work burden on their shoulders.
According to the statistics given by Indian government there are 20 million child laborers in the country, while other agencies claim that it is 50 million. Child labour is a conspicuous problem in India. Its prevalence is evident in the child work participation rate, which is more than that of other developing countries. Poverty is the reason for child labour in India.
The meager income of child laborers is also absorbed by their families. The paucity of organized banking in the rural areas creates a void in taking facilities, forcing poor families to push their children in harsh lobour, the harshest being boded labour.
It is also shameful for those NGO who claims to work for the welfare of children and protection of their rights when they claim to fight for the eradication of the child labour and all this exposed when their real motive comes in light to loot and plunder the Government funds with collaboration of Government officers.
In this regard the state Government should also punish such bogus NGOs which are llooting the huge money as fund on the name of eradication of child labour in Kathua and state also.
