PDP Seeks adjournment motion | | | early times report Jammu, Mar 11: The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has sought an adjournment motion under Rule 56 to seek discussion on murky deals in the Jammu Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA). A spokesman of the PDP said today that the party had sought adjournment of normal business for tomorrow, the 12th March and the motion under rule 56 was sent to concerned authorities in this regard this evening. The motion while giving details of alleged bungling, misuse and misappropriation of funds and the FIR lodged against some officials of the JKCA said that the entire functioning of the Association had become suspect in the public , bringing integrity of the top brass also in question and in the instant case that of Dr. Farooq Abdullah as President of JKCA who cannot and should not evade responsibility. "Since Assembly is in session and there is an established precedent to bring controversial public issues to the floor for transparent , open and free debate , the financial irregularities that are coming to fore about the JKCA makes obligatory on the House to perform its earnest duty towards the people of the state to give them access to information and establish accountability and pave way for bringing culprits to book whosoever they may be. It is, therefore, moved that normal business of this august House for 11. 03. 2012 be suspended to discuss the issue of urgent public importance such as financial bungling and misappropriation and misuse in JKCA and need to get the investigation conducted by CBI in the case as has happened in similar nature of allegations outside Jammu and Kashmir , particularly in case of Suresh Kalmadi." The spokesman said that FIR by the JKCA Chairman against two officials was endorsement of the reports of scam. He, however, viewed the step with suspicion as it is a common belief that Police in such sensitive issues has not proved successful to explore truth. He said that there are fingers pointed at Dr. Farooq Abdullah and Chairman Goni himself and there is possibility of police getting influenced. It is in this context that the party has demanded CBI probe and will press for the same to secure public money.
