Coalition MLCs applaud budget initiatives of FM | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 12: Continuing the Budget discussion in Legislative Council today Dr. Bashir Ahmad Shah complimented the Finance Minister for fiscal reforms and coming up with a holistic budget for upliftment and welfare of the people. He said that the budget reflects inclusive growth in which welfare of Tribals, Paharis, SCs, STs, OBCs, Women and Children and people of Border and Backward areas has been given due consideration. He congratulated the government for giving administrative and financial powers to Panchayats. Syed Rafiq Shah while taking part in the budget discussion called for better utilization of state's natural resources to reduce dependence on central assistance. He said that government should introduce measures towards self sufficiency especially in power sector with its huge untapped potential. He said that tourism potential of areas like Bungus valley,Tulail Gurez, Machil etc should be exploited. He called for reforms in agriculture and education sector keeping in mind future trends and developments. Shah also demanded better facilities to Gujjar and Bakerwals and political reservationfurther. He also demanded Schedule Tribe Status to Pahari's. Mohammad Amin Bhat in his address complimented the Finance Minister for tabling a pro-people budget covering all section of the society, with special focus on employability of youth and welfare of farmers. He said that with the opening of 22 colleges and other educational institutions, vast improvement in the education scenario has taken place in the State. He said that the ambitious road projects including Mughal road, 4 laning of National highway and other roads will improve the existing road connectivity network adding that the completion of railway line from Katra to Qazigund by 2017 will further boost the economy of the State. He congratulated the Government for launching several programmes for welfare of the youth especially SKEWPY. |
