Only 1 guest from PoK arrives, 9 Kashmiris cross other side | | | Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Mar 12 : Only one guest from Pakistan- Occupied Kashmir (PoK) arrived here this afternoon while nine Kashmiris crossed over to other side of the Line of Control (LoC) to meet their relatives, separated in 1947. As many as 24 returnees also crossed sides at the Kaman post, the last Indian military post, in Uri sector in north Kashmir, official sources said. They said a POK resident arrived at Kaman post after crossing the Aman Setu, the peace bridge this afternoon. They said 21 Kashmiris, including ten women and a child, who had gone to PoK in previous buses, also returned to their homes after completing stay across the border. Nine Kashmiris, including three women, crossed to other side of the LoC to meet their relatives, they said adding that three POK residents, who had come here returned to their homes. The arrival of POK guests declined during winter. However, the number of Kashmiris visiting POK witnessed an increase this winter. So far only eight POK had visited Kashmir during 2012 while 101 had crossed to other side till today this year. The service was started to enable families divided in 1947 to meet each other. |
