| SVO registers case against revenue officers | | | Early Times report JAMMU, Mar 12: The state vigilance organization (SV) has registered an FIR against naib-tehsildar Abdul Sattar, girdawar Akbar Bhat and patwari (now girdawar) Liyaqat Ali for making fraudulent entries by recording girdawaries of state land at Dhar Sarthal, Bani, in favour of about 110 persons to give them undue and illegal benefit under Roshni Act, which led to the usurping of the state land in view of the developing tourism potential in the area. During verification, SVO found that from 2004-2007, Liyaqat Ali Bhat in connivance with naib-tehsildar (Bani) Abdul Sattar and Akbar Bhat, girdawar Dhar Sarthal, manipulated revenue record and entered 5 kanal 8 marlas of state land and Shamlat Del at Dhar Sarthal, Bani, in Kathua in his own name and names of relatives. It was also found during verification that Liyaqat Ali had in 2006 demanded and accepted Rs 25,000 in cash and 5 kg desi ghee from one Babu Khan of Dhar Sarthal on the promise of vesting ownership rights of 25 kanals of land falling under various khasra Nos at Dhar Sarthal which was in his possession under J&K Lands (vesting of ownership occupants Act) 2001. After completion of inquiry, SVO registered a case against the accused under section 5(1) (c) (d) read with section 5(2) of PC Act and sections 161, 467, 468 and 120-B of RPC. |
