Joint efforts on anvil to promote tourism of twin Jammu lakes | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 12: All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association has resolved to undertake coordinated and concerted moves to promote tourism to the twin lakes of Mansar and Surinsar in Jammu and bring these on tourism map of the country. The organisations, which joined hands to exploit the tourism potential of the twin lakes, included All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association (AJHLA), Jammu Pryatan Viks Mandal (JPVM), Jammu Hotels, Restaurants and Bars Association (JKRBA), Travel and Tour Operators Union of Jammu, Jammu Province Tourist Taxi Operators' Union, Mansar-Surinsar Lake Bachao Aandolan Movement and Tourist Trades Employees' Federation. Thakur Mahender Singh - CEO of Surinsar-Mansar Development Authority, who was the special invitee to the meeting - extended full support to the participants in developing tourism to these lakes. The participants demanded construction of all-weather widened road from Chichi Mata to Mansar and a link road between Mansar and Surinsar. They rued that the presents roads to these spots are in shambles. They also demanded pressing into service of regular public transport, particularly - deluxe coaches to these spots as well as giving adequate publicity to these tourist destinations. Stress was also laid on providing more infrastructure facilities and beautification of thee spots, with preservation of ecology and environment in the area. It particularly demanded that the water supply schemes to the households as well as use of water for irrigation from the lakes should be stopped forthwith and for these purposes alternate arrangements be made. Holding of Mansar-Surinsar tourism festival annually was also demanded. The private stake holders assured of their participation in the steps to be taken to promote tourism here. Besides Inderjeet Khajuria, president All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association, others who attended the meeting included Ravi Mahajan, Kuldeep Wahi, Devender Chaudhary, Ashiq Hussain, Pawan Gupta, Suresh Gupta, Mahesh Padha, Kewal Krishan, Sham Lal, Bal Krishan, Mahender Kumar, Narender Kumar, Deewan Singh and Kuldeep Kumar Chaudhary. |
