CME on "current perspectives in kidney disease" held

JAMMU, Mar 12 : To commemorate the World Kidney Day, the Medanta-"The Medicity" Hospital, Gurgaon on Saturday started Nephrology (Kidney -Clinic) OPD at Gandhi Nagar Hospital for the facilities of patients from Jammu and Kashmir.
The OPD was inaugurated by the ex- Member of parliament (Rajya Sabha) former speaker J&K Assembly & Former Health & Medical -Education Minister (J&K ) State Mirza Abdul Rashid.
A team of super specialists in nephrology headed by Dr. Vijay Kher (Chairman- Division of Nephrology & Renal Transplant ) & Dr Vishal Saxena (Consultant Nephrology) from Medanta-"The Medicity" Gurgaon gave free consultation to the patients suffering from the Kidney disease..
Lauding the gesture of Medanta"-The Medicity, Gurgaon for providing free services to the patients of Jammu and Kashmir at their doorsteps, Mirza Abdul Rashi said that it is a great help to the poor patients who cannot afford to move outside the State due to financial and other reasons.
He expressed his gratitude to the management of the hospitals for taking this philanthropic initiative for the poor people.
While talking to media Dr Vijay Kher appreciated & informed that last year Medanta took up the issue with the State Govt. for providing infrastructure and free consultation to the poor people of this State and Dr Naresh Trehan Chairman & Managing Director were kind enough to accept the request of the government and they started the OPD services in the state.
Dr Vijay Kher gave consultation to 64 patients those suffering from kidney disease and needs further plan of treatment .Wherein most of the cases are of CAPD, Dialysis and. diabetes mellitus, glomerulonephritis, hypertension, stone disease, urinary tract infections and drug induced interstitial disease.
Dr Rajinder Singh, Principal GMC Jammu, chief guest on the occasion lauded the role of Medanta for providing such educational programmes for the public and medical fraternity of the state. He stressed upon elaborating such programs in the larger interest of patient care all the way through these kind of more events which are becoming vital and quite inspirational for doctors and service providers on behalf of meeting the regular necessities, he added.
Dr Madhu Khullar ,Director Health Services, guest of honour in the programme ,while addressing the doctors also expressed state Government's earnestness in improving the healthcare facilities in the state of J&K .
