Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 12: PDP President Mehbooba Mufti Monday alleged that officials of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association fearing the fate of Haji Yusuf hesitate to unveil the truth about the multi crore money siphoning in the Association.
Talking to media outside the main entrance of Assembly where PDP legislators sat on a dharna against not being allowed to raise the issues of public interest in the House, said that officials of JKCA were ready to speak the truth but were hesitating fearing the fate met by Haji Yusuf on identifying Dr. Farooq Abdullah for taking money for MLC seats.
Mehbooba said, "there was fear psychosis that if they disclose the truth and name Dr. Abdullah as the main beneficiary in the multi-crore JKCA scam, they may be eliminated as was done with Haji Yusuf on naming Dr. Farooq Abdullah in political kick-back case". Mehbooba said that every day some new scam surfaces involving all most all the ministers from both the parties and the development process has come to a grinding halt since last three years.
Accusing Delhi for double standards, Mehbooba said, " when Suresh Kalmadi, A Raja and many others could land in Jail for misappropriating the public money, why it is silent on Jammu and Kashmir which has become den of corrupt practices and huge embezzlements, why they don't take any action against Dr. Farooq Abdullah who is in the Union Cabinet? She said that from Chief Minister down to ministers every body in coalition government is facing charges of corruption and crime, they (Delhi) are mute spectators.
When asked whether she demands dismissal of Omar Abdullah led coalition government on charges of Corruption, Mehbooba while avoiding any direct answer said, "I don't know, we want action, we want registration of FIR against Dr. Farooq Abdullah and an independent inquiry into the multi crore scam".
Displaying some official documents of JKCA , Mehbooba said that Dr. Farooq was directly involved in the scam as it was on his direction that money credited to the account of Ehsan Mirrza. A letter dated March 10, 2012 addressed to the chairman JKCA by Branch Manager J&K Bank branch Khanyar reads; on the authority of letter issued by the honourable president Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (Dr. Farooq Abdullah) the loan of 1.90 crore was raised against own deposits of the association on July 3, 2008 and proceeds whereof were credited to current account No. 90605 of Mr. Ahsan Mirza maintained with our business unit.
"This is a tip of the iceberg and what else do they want so as to book Dr. Abdullah under the law" Mehbooba said adding that Ehsan Mirza and Saleem Khan were made scapegoats while as the main accused (Dr. Farooq Abdullah) have not been touched. There is a prima-facie case against senior Abdullah and the cognizance should have been taken accordingly, but they want to hush-up the case to save Abdullah.
Saying that people who can provide important evidence in the case are scared as they correlate it with that of Haji Yusuf who had to lost his life for naming Dr. Farooq Abdullah in political kick-back case in which FIR was lodged against the dead.
PDP president further said that there was alienation because the genuine concerns of the youth are not being addressed." Youth in Jammu and Kashmir are cricket lovers, every youngster here wants to become Sachin Tendolker because they have passion for the game, we provide them cricket kits out of the Constituency Development Fund and encourage them but here is the cricket association that siphons the money " said Mehbooba.
