| Ruckus J&K Assembly, PDP demands discussion on JKCA scam | | | Bashir Assad
JAMMU, Mar 12: 50 crore scam in Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) rocked the assembly here on Monday when opposition Peoples Democratic Party demanded discussion on the adjournment motion moved by the party over the issue which was, however, disallowed by the speaker.
As soon as the House met here today PDP members stood up from their seats and demanded discussion on the multi -crore money siphoning in JKCA headed by NC president and union minister DR farooq Abdullah. However, speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone did not allow them saying that the adjournment motion moved by the party seeking discussion on the issue was disallowed by him. "I have disallowed your adjournment motion because the issue has already been discussed in the house and one of your member has spoken on the issue that time" said speaker. However, PDP MLAs including their president Mehbooba Mufti demanded that the issue was involving embezzlement of public money, it should be discussed in the house.
Speaker, while paying no heed to PDP demand started question hour. On this PDP legislators stood up and shouted slogans like, "gali gali mein shore hai, yeh sarkar chore hai" "abhi abhi khabar aayee -Farooq- kalmadi bayee bayee" " Logoon ka paisa kahan gaya - wahan gaya wahan gaya (pointing towards the treasury benches).
Ab. Gafar Sofi ,Javad Mustafa Mir and Ab. Haq Khan raised the slogans one by one and rest of the MLAs continued to reply to the slogans. In the mean time chief minister Omar Abdullah entered the House and was seen smiling on hearing the slogans against his government and his father from the opposition.
On the other hand Mehbooba was seen guiding legislators of her party as how to raise slogans. However, amid din, ministers continued to reply to the questions pertaining to their respective departments but nothing could be heard because of the loud sloganeering by PDP.
Javad Mustafa Mir who was loudly raising the slogans moved towards the well of the House along with Dr Shafi Ahmad who was displaying some papers in air to attract the attention of the speaker, who was however unmoved. Soon all the PDP MLAs marched towards the well and while shouting slogans loudly, Ab. Haq Khan kept crying, "speaker sir, discussion on JKCA scam should be allowed". For spending about 10 to15 minutes near the well amid loud sloganeering, PDP legislature party led by Mehbooba Mufti staged wake out from the house in protest and observed a brief sit - in- dharna outside the main entrance of the Central Hall.
