Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 13 :Treasury benches Tuesday created history in the J&K Legislative Assembly by disrupting the normal business of the House for about half an hour on the issue of naming Dr. Farooq Abdullah in JKCA multi-crore scam which surfaced recently.
It was something unprecedented that National Conference MLAs including a couple of ministers stood on their legs as soon as the House met here today and protested against opposition Peoples Democratic Party for naming Dr. Farooq Abdullah in multi-crore scam.
NC legislators including Ministers of state Nasir Aslam Wani, Javed Ahmad Dar and advisor to Chief Minister Mubarak Gul stood on up from their seats and protested against naming of Dr. Farooq Abdullah in the scam by PDP.
Nazir Gurezi, Sajad Kichloo, Mubarak Gul, Choudry Mohammad Ramzan, Mir Saifullah, Kafeel-Ur-Rehman, Bimla Luthra while shouting slogans, "chore machaye shore" marched towards the well of the House demanding that all words related to Dr. Farooq Abdullah's naming in the JKCA scam should be expunged from the business of the House. "Dr Farooq Abdullah is not a member of this house. You people (PDP members) are wasting time by raising non-issues," NC members told PDP legislators.
The proceedings were, for quite some time brought to a standstill as members argued over the alleged embezzlement of funds that were intended to promote cricket in the state. In raging outbursts that members of the ruling National Conference party angrily reacted to calls by the opposition People's Democratic Party for an investigation to be launched into Farooq Abdullah, the head of the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association. However, Speaker Muhammad Akbar Lone repeatedly asked the treasury benches to allow him to speak, however, NC MLAs continued shouting slogans against PDP. "You have decided not to disrupt the question hour under any circumstances, you belong to treasury benches, it is your duty to run the House smoothly" Speaker told agitating NC Legislators.
"Please go to your seats I will allow you to prove your point" added Speaker on which PDP MLAs shouted, "we want discussion". However, Mir Saifullah of NC while making his point said that allegations should not be levelled against a person who is not a member of this house and Speaker should not allow this". Javed Mustafa Mir of PDP shouted back, " the issue we raised here yesterday should be discussed in the House". Javed shouted, 'gali gali mein shore hai, yeh sarkar chore hai'. However, Speaker stood up from the chair and requested NC MLAs to take their seats on which NC MLAs returned to their seats. " This is an established fact that any issue related to a person who is not member of this House should not be raised in the House, I have totally disallowed their motion and I strictly issue the instructions not to record anything about this issue" On this Mubarak Gul said that the words used yesterday should be expunged to which Speaker agreed and directed for the same. On this PDP MLAs stood up from their seats shot back by resorting to sloganeering creating a furore in the house.
