'Law is friend of man' : Anand Lehar | | | UDHAMPUR , Mar 13 : S S Anand Lehar, Senior Advocate, while addressing new Batch of DSPs under training at Police Training College, Udhampur, urged the people that they should live with the law because law is the friend of man. The main object of the law is not to punish the individual but to create order in the society for the benefit of the human beings. Lehar further said that the Police is the backbone of human society and strong police makes the society strong. So, a special training is required to be given to the new incumbents and they require more Public co-operation. He further said that now police has not to face criminals only but they have also to take care of the human rights of the people and also help them. He urged the Government to change the procedural laws and make them easy, so that the culprits could be brought to the books and punished accordingly. He further stressed upon the new incumbents to follow the procedure as laid down under law, because any violation of the procedure or deviation from it goes in favour of accused persons and these procedures or lapses therein become responsible for the acquittal of accused persons, despite best efforts of the Police. He praised the police for fighting with the criminals on one hand and helping the people on the other hand in difficult situations. The object of the Police in a free democratic country should be the service of the people, not the Rule. |
