Govt must issue a circular on new RTI fee structure : JKRTI Movement | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Mar 13: J&K RTI Movement has demanded that a Government circular must be issued to all the public authorities of J&K directing them to charge only Rs 10 as application fees filed under J&K Right to Information Act (J&K RTI Act 2009) instead of Rs 50 charged previously. In a statement Convener J&K RTI Movement Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat alleged that some PIO's are not adhering to the Hon'ble High Court order pronounced on 3rd March 2012 wherein the Government has been directed to charge Rs 10 as RTI application fees and Rs 2 as Photostat fees per copy instead of Rs 50 and Rs 10 respectively charged earlier under J&K RTI Rules 2010. This order according to High court judgment would be effective from 3rd March 2012 till the next hearing of this case. It is a matter of concern that officials especially the PIO's are charging more fees from the applicants who want information under J&K RTI Act 2009 which is open violation of High court order. We are getting continuous complaints from Bandipora , Srinagar and other districts that officials are demanding fees charged previously (Rs 50) and the PIO's are asking for an order or Govt notification in this regard Dr Muzaffar added |
