Telecom police organises debate on ‘Human Rights’

JAMMU, Mar 13: The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Technical Services, PHQ, Owais Ahmed, said that Jammu and Kashmir Police has a great responsibility of honour human rights of the people, being defenders of their rights. He said Jammu and Kashmir Police is to uphold its record of human rights which they have gained among the forces of the country.
Inaugurating day long debate on the topic "State violence of human rights destroys public faith in governance and thus feeds terrorism'' organized by Police Modernization Zone held at Armed Police Headquarters today, Owais emphasised the need to organize such debates so that common people get awareness about their rights.
He said that by organizing such functions, the police organization can achieve good results in educating their men and officers to honour the human rights.
He said that the organization has introduced human rights as a subject in its training syllabus in all training institutions across the State and is also deputing its officers and men outside the State for getting specialized training on the subject.
Speaking on the occasion, the IGP reminded that the jawans and officers have been administered an oath at their enrolment in the department to safeguard the rights of the people and thus they have more responsibility to uphold their oath. He stressed upon the participants that civil society has great expectations with the force and we have to come up their expectations to achieve better results.
At the conclusion of the debate, the teams of Police Telcom and Railway J&K were declared as winner and runner up teams. Inspector, Usha Kher was declared 1st, Inspector, Kuldeep Raj and ASI Bashir Ahmed both were declared 2nd, while the DDP, Mufti Javaid Ahmed was declared as 3rd position holders in the competition and were rewarded.
