| Two HM militants escape after encounter | | | Early Times Report
KISHTWAR, Mar 14: Two HM militants, including district commander Sajjad Hussain Mir alias Rizwan, escaped after five-hour-long encounter with security forces in Hunzar area of Dachhan, about 65 km from here, today.
According to official reports, Rizwan and his associate Mohammad Shafi Hajam were trapped in a security cordon last night.
The operation was launched jointly by the troops of 17 RR, 9 para and police on a tip-off, the reports added.
The troops came in contact with the militants early in the morning. The exchange of fire between the two sides continued for more than 5 hours after which the militants gave the slip to troops and fled.
Reports said the forces were searching for the militants till late tonight.
It is worthwhile to mention here that intelligence bureau had also sounded an alert about two days ago about the shifting of hideout by HM militants, including its chief operational commander Mohammad Amin alias Jahingir Saroori, to Dachhan area. Jahingir was active for over last two decades.
Security forces in Marwah area of Kishtwar are continuing their operation in the area for the past 75 days in search for the 3 HM militants and their associates who were involved in last year's Delhi high court. |
