| JKCA scam tip of iceberg of corruption: BJP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Mar 14: BJP has termed the recent disclosures about the irregularities and embezzlement on massive scale in Jammu-Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) as a proverbial tip of iceberg of corruption that has been the hallmark of NC-Congress combine.
Describing the embezzlement and irregularities in respect of the money in JKCA as most unfortunate and tragic for the youth of the state, BJP president Shamsher Singh said the involvement of top leadership of the NC in this latest scandal has once again proved that none in the NC or Congress is leaving any stone unturned to make money by means-fair or foul.
The working of an apex sports body of the state ought to have been inspiring and exemplary so as to enthuse and inspire the youth of the state to excel in the sport of cricket.
Manhas lamented that less said about the rectitude and probity of the NCs towering personality heading the JKCA better it is.
Shamsher Singh Manhas recalled the plethora of instances of corruption by the ministers and MLAs of NC-Congress combine.
He cited the example of impersonation in the matriculation examination and MBBS entrance examination involving the ward of cabinet ministers, state land grabbing and creating huge estates within months of getting a ministerial berth and so on. He also recalled hundreds of crores having been shown spent on the cleaning Dal Lake during the previous tenure of the NC government without any improvement having taken place in the condition of the Dal Lake as the amount was never actually spent. He also cited the example of the misappropriation of funds shown as spent for the improvement of Jammu city.
Manhas said that the NC-Congress government is only shielding the corrupt and allowing dishonesty to prevail merrily. This scale of corruption can be gauged by just noticing the manifold increase in the wealth of its MLAs and Ministers. There is no accountability for the corrupt and dishonest in the state.
The revelation of financial irregularities and embezzlement in JKCA is only indicative of this state and exemplifies acceptance of the corruption as the norm at the highest political level. He further added that by not allowing any discussion in the assembly on the matter and not accepting the demand of the opposition including BJP to get the matter investigated by impartial agency like CBI and completely disbanding and overhauling the management of JKCA only proves that the government is conscious of the nefarious activities going on in the said sports body and is bent upon shielding.
He demanded that the government must allow free discussion on the corruption in JKCA and other scams in the current session of the assembly and get the other scams involving its ministers and others investigated by CBI. |
