BJP, PP grill govt over lathicharge on HGs, ReZ protestors | Raise issue vociferously, stage walkout | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Mar 14 : Even as the main opposition party PDP maintained silence inside the House today,Legislative Assembly witnessed uproarious scenes created by the members of other opposition parties over the issue of Home Guards and youth seeking regularization under Rehber-e-Ziraat , both agitating for a long time in support of their demands. After raising the matter in a forceful manner the MLAs lashed out at the government over police lathi charge on the agitating farm technocrats as well as some students of the Jammu University. Castigating the government over its indifferent attitude, theMLAs later staged a walkout from the House. Lone JSM member Ashwani Kumar too joined the chorus of concern over the issues. As the zero hour began ,the issue was first raised by JKNPPMLA Balwant Singh Mankotia who was soon joined by Jugal Kishore of BJP .Addressing the Speaker both lodged strong protest over what they lamented the government's failure to address the demands of Home Guards and Agricultural Technocrats who are seeking regularization of their services. Expressing concern over the plight of agitating Home Guards and Agriculture technocrats, the members of both the parties got up from their seats and expressed serious concern over police action against Home Guards (HG)and Agricultural Technocrats, who they said are agitating for their legitimate demands. "It is very serious issue ………. police has brutally beaten the agitating Home Guards who were protesting peacefully for their genuine demands…… it is unfortunate and shameful that even women were not spared by police" Jugal Kishore said. Speaking in the same tone and advocating the cause, Balwant Mankotia too raised the pitch against the government and shouted…"this government only takes refuge ofsettling the issues using force ……. That has become their style of governance….", Makotia said adding that Home Guards and REZs were being beaten often for their only fault of highlighting their demands. " Instead of addressing their issues and giving any assurance about regularization, they have become victims of police action……this is some unacceptable", the MLAs shouted. Jugal and Makotia raised the pitch of their shouts for some time and even came close to the well of the House while shouting slogans against the government. Even though there was no response from the Speaker and the government both the members insisted on statement from the government over the issue of both the agitating bodies.Soon all the MLAs of both the parties raised the slogans "Lathi-Dande Ki Sarkar Nahi Chalegi Nahi Chalegi…… Home Guards-ReZ Ke Sath Insaf Karo……", When Speaker Mohammad Akbar Lone did not respond to their repeated demand for a reply from the government, the BJP and JKNPP members staged a walkout from the House. Earlier, the Legislators of BJP created uproar in the Assembly against government's failure to fill the vacant post of Additional Deputy Commissioner in Jammu district. "Due to ADC's vacant post no Permanent Resident Certificates are issued, the" BJP members shouted. |
