Arun Chowdhary likely to be new J&K DGP Sahai as CID chief, Dr Srinivas as IG Jammu | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 14: A major reshuffle in the state police force is in the offing before the Darbar move to Srinagar, informed sources have told Early Times. The state government is planning a major reshuffle in the state police department at the levels of the DGP, ADGs and IGPs. The present DGP, Kuldeep Khoda is retiring at the end of May this year. A hunt has already started for the new chief of the Jammu and Kashmir State police. While many names are doing the rounds in this regard, Arun Chowdhary, an IPS officer of 1978 batch who has served as Joint Director (IB) in the State and also as in charge of the Kashmir desk at the IB headquarters in Delhi is believed to be the front runner for the top police slot in the state. Sources said S.M Sahai, presently IGP (Kashmir) is likely to be posted as the new ADG (CID) consequent upon his promotion this year to the rank of the ADG. Present IGP (CID) Dr. B. Srinivas, is likely to go as the Jammu zone police chief while Javaid Mujtaba Geelani, on deputation to the CBI is likely to be posted as the new IGP of Kashmir zone after his repatriation to the state from the CBI this year. "If the repatriation of Geelani back to his parent J&K cadre of the IPS is delayed for some reasons then the next choice for the post of IGP Kashmir zone is H.K. Lohia, the present IGP (Traffic)," sources said. |
