| TV private producers up in arms against Srinagar DD , demand CBI probe in to bungling | | | Early Times REPORT
Srinagar, Mar 15 : Demanding posting of full time director for Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar , hundreds of private producers today held massive protests in local park near TV station . The agitating freelance television professionals alleged there is rampant corruption in the station under the patronage of present Head of Programmes Shami Shair. The lady, who is here for last 32 years , according to them ,is flouting the rules and set procedure of Prasar Bharti.
Interestingly, Shami Shair ,who is still holding rank of Deputy Director has managed to take over as the head of the programmes using money and political clout in Delhi. Demanding the inquest CBI inquiry in to the bungling, the Chairman of private producers association Zameer Ashai said despite the repeated requests with all the relevant documents, CBI Srinagar bureau has not initiated any investigation into the gross violations and bungling. "We have full faith over the functioning of the agency and request them to immediately hold enquiry into the large scale bungling and corruption by Shami Shair and her close confidants ," he alleged . Zamir alleged while payments of the artists, technicians, directors, writers, musicians and singers are pending since 2008, the payments of our Jammu colleagues have been cleared . Calling the in-charge director Shami as arrogant , chairman Ashia said the TV station have become out bounds for the private producers on the orders of Shami Shair. "Only a few chosen ones including close relatives and friends of the director are producing flagship programmes and daily breakfast Show like Good Morning J&K on fake names ," said Zamir. We have decided to continue the peaceful protest till all the demands are met. It has also been decided that a team of the United Forum will shortly visit Delhi and apprise Prime minister , Home minister , I&B Minister, CEO, DG prasar Bharti soon Chairman Zameer Ashai said. |
