Panther leaders re-account 24 hours detention after abduction

Jammu, Mar 15: The Panthers Party leaders Anita Thakur (General Secretary), Pushvinder Singh Manhas (Sr. Vice President, Young Panthers) and Shakti Gupta (President, Panthers Trade Union) who were pushed back by force by the Rajouri Police this afternoon after their abduction yesterday and detention in Sunderbani Guest House for more than 24 hours held the a hurriedly convened press conference at Panthers Party Headquarters. How they were stopped on the Highway yesterday morning while they were driving to Rajouri with a message of peace and brotherhood, it was deliberated in the conference.
"We were stopped by force by police party led by a Tehsildar of Sunderbani in the morning hours and dragged out of our vehicles. It was criminal on the part of administration to give the same treatment to 12 years old Pushkin, a student who was to visit his home village." For several hours we were kept on the road-side in a deserted place, 5/6 kms. short of Sunderbani with intention to abduct us and liquidate. We were denied drinking water, of course, food also for more than eight hours.
The administration could not succeed in their plan to liquidate us because the matter was raised in the Assembly by Balwant Singh Mankotia, MLA and State President-JKNPP. Bhim Singh, Chairman, NPP who also moved a petition through fax to the Chief Justice of J&K in this matter urging the Chief Justice to intervene to save our lives, it was held. It was in the even-ing that they were dragged to Guest House, Sunderbani where they remained detained and cut off till 1.00 p.m. today. The police party armed with guns took them out of the Guest House, Sunderbani and dropped at the border between Rajouri and Reasi Districts. SDM, Nowshera came in the morning and served a deportation order telling them that their entry to the Rajouri District has been banned. They showed the order of the SDM dated 14.03.2012. "The situation in Rajouri District is highly explosive. The ruling National Conference is responsible for disturbing communal harmony in Rajouri. The ruling party intends to create communal conflict in Jammu Pradesh to divert the attention of the people from the real issues. We demand immediate dismissal of Omar Abdullah government to save Jammu Pradesh from further death, destruction and fire," the spea kers in the conference said .
