DB directive to div com in alleged land grabbing by politicians, bureaucrats | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 15: A high court division bench of Justice Virender Singh and Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar, in a PIL as regards an alleged nexus between land grabbers and politicians, police officers and bureaucrats, directed divisional commissioner, Jammu, to furnish compliance/status report pursuant to the annexure within three weeks only. The PIL has been filed by Prof S K Bhalla. In it, he highlighted a case of the grabbing of ownership land of two brothers -- Tilak Raj and Hem Raj, sons of Karam Chand of Chak Lalu Shah, Jammu -- whose land measuring 342 kanal 4 marals had allegedly been encroached by three daughters of PHE minister Taj Mohiuddin. It was alleged that the daughters of the minister had raised a big farm house on the said land. The petitioner submitted that a copy of the report of settlement officer, Jammu, dated October 11, 2007, which was self-explanatory and showed the plight of the owners and strength of the minister's daughters, seeking direction to chief secretary, financial commissioner (home), commissioner/secretary, GAD, and commissioner/secretary, revenue department to constitute a special investigating team of officers of proven integrity from the vigilance organization and revenue department to probe into the allegations of land grabbing against some police officers, politicians and bureaucrats. The division bench directed divisional commissioner, Jammu, to furnish compliance/status report pursuant to the annexures B, C and D within three weeks only. The AAG, who appeared for the state, assured the judges that the court order would be communicated to the divisional commissioner within this week. |
