Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 15: Launching a severe attack on the NationalConference, the PDP chief, Mahbooba Mufti today accused it of causing incalculabledamage to the democratic institutions in the state through fraud andundemocratic methods.
They have been treating the state as theirpersonal property for the past many decades. "It is not through rigged theelections alone that they subverted democracy but even now when NC is no morein a dominant position in the House they are trying to undermine peoples'rights through subterfuge, bribery, and muscle and lung power. But PDP is areality it can no longer wish away", she said.
She pointed out that the ruling coalitionhad blocked discussion in the legislature over serious matters of publicinterest and tried to bury scandals like sale of MLC, MLA mandates andministerial berths leading to Yusuf Shah killing and the multi-crorecricket association scam.
Mahbooba said NC has been looting the stateresources and dominating its institutions like the Auquf, medical institute andother institutions for years and instead of letting them work for public goodmisusing them for party and family interests of Abdullahs. They have not evenspared the Cricket Association which is receiving huge funding from BCCI forthe promotion of cricket in the state."
She said crores of rupees have beensiphoned off by Farooq Abullah and his cronies in a brazen loot of resourcesthat could have helped large number of youth in showing their talent andfollow their passion. But, the Abdullah family has denied even this opportunityto them and instead stolen the money required for building cricketinfrastructure to construct their own palaces and secure the future of theirown families. She said the PDP would continue its crusade against corruption inthe state which is spearheaded by none other than the NC and its first family.
