Cabinet to appoint new Secretaries for Health, Cooperative | Pir, Hamid among 9 IAS officers, 37 KAS officers retiring in 2012 | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 15: Even as the issue of raising the retirement age of the state government employees from 58 to 59/60 years is unlikely to come up for discussion in absence of the Cabinet Sub Committee report, Cabinet is expected to sanction appointment of new administrative Secretaries in the departments of Health & Medical Education and Cooperative in the forenoon on Friday. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is scheduled to preside over a Cabinet meeting that would begin at Civil Secretariat at 10.00 a.m on Friday. According to knowledgable sources, Cabinet would discuss and take decision over certain administrative matters. However, the much speculated issue of the enhancement of the retirement age of the state government employees from 58 to 59 or 60 years was not expected to come up for consideration as the Cabinet Sub Committee has not yet submitted its report to the Government. Sources said that Cabinet was likely to consider a proposal of minor reshuffle at the level of administrative Secretaries. Commissioner Commercial Taxes, Gazzanfar Hussain, is likely to be appointed as the new Secretary Health & Medical Education in advance of the retirement of Ghulam Ahmad Pir on March 31st. A senior KAS officer, Mr Pir, who was inducted into IAS with 1995 as his year of allotment, has been functioning as Commissioner-Secretary of Health & Medical Education since 23-06-2011. Mr Hussain stands inducted into IAS with 1998 as his year of allotment. Earlier today, Government has shifted KAS officer Sajjad Ahmad Khan as Special Secretary Health & Medical Education and shifted him to Rural Development Department as Special Secretary. Special Secretary RDD, Syed Iftikhar-ul-Hassnain, has been appointed as Special Secretary Health & Medical Education in place of Sajjad Ahmad Khan. Officer on Special Duty with Minister of Revenue, Raman Bhalla, has also been appointed as Additional Deputy Commissioner of Jammu today in advance of tomorrow's Cabinet meeting. Sources said that in the meeting tomorrow, Cabinet was likely to also appoint a new incumbent as Secretary or Commissioner-Secretary Cooperative in place of IAS officer, Abdul Hamid Wani, who is also retiring on March 31st. Even after the retirement of Mr Mohammad Sayeed Khan and Mrs Naseema lanker in the last two months, as many as nine IAS officers are reaching superannuation in remaining months of the current year. They include Commissioner-Secretary Health & Medical Education Mr G A Pir, Commissioner-Secretary Cooperative Mr Abdul Hamid Wani (both on 31-3-2012), Financial Commissioner Revenue Dr R K Jerath, Secretary in Planning & Development Department Guldev Raj Bhagat, Autar Krishen Raina, who is currently on leave, (all on 30-4-2012), Chairman of Services Selection Board Mr Bua Ditta Bhagat (31-5-2012), Member of Special Tribal in Jammu Mrs Sunita Sharma (31-8-2012), Registrar of Cooperative Societies Dr Syed Mohammad Fazalullah and Commissioner-Secretary PHE, Irrigation & Flood Control Mr Bishen Das Gupta (31-10-2012). In addition to the 11 IAS officers, as many as 37 KAS officers are also retiring in the year 2012. They include DC Budgam, Mohammad Rafi, Syed Altaf Hussain, Mohammad Yasin Shooru, Ishtiyaq Ahmad Ashai, Syed Iftikharul Hassnain, Rajinder Singh Kotwal, Mir Fayaz Hussain, Ravinder Gupta, Rita Parimoo, Gazi Ahmad Pandit, Khalid Bashir (already retired), Dr Kanwal Kishen Kichloo, Bashir Ahmad Kanth, Mrs Chandra Gupta, Mehmood Rana, Dr Abdul Gani Sofi (already retired), Mushtaq Ahmad Sidiquee, Nazir Ahmad Shah, Ram Rattan Sharma, Mohammad Ashraf Shonthu, Syed Ataullah Samnani, Ramesh Chander Sharma and Pervez Ahmad Wani.
