Dilapidated manuscripts on display | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 16: Today on 16th day of three week workshop on manuscriptology and paleology near about 135 Manuscripts which are in a shabby condition in the library of the Department of Urdu were displayed before the participants of the workshop. The workshop is being organized by the Department of Urdu in collaboration with the National Mission for Manuscirpt Ministry of Culture Government of India. The participants applied the latest conservation method for manuscripts. They removed dust, silver worm from near about 20 manuscripts and covered them with cloth. Puesh from Archeology Department J&K Government and Inder Pal were the expert of today's workshop. They also guided the participants in preserving the old manuscripts. Speaking on the occasion HOD Urdu Shohab Inayat Malik announced that manuscript lab will be set up soon in the Department of Urdu, where old Manuscripts would be preserved. It is pertinent to mention here that the Departmental library has 400 years old Manuscripts they are in Persian, Arabic & Urdu Languages costing lacs of rupees.
