| Court denies bail to three in attempt to murder case | | | JAMMU, Mar 16: Special municipal magistrate V S Bhau today rejected the bail application of three attempt to murder accused.
The accused included Shamsher Lal, Thomas Massih and Lakhan Massih. On March 4 last, the accused had entered the house of Ramesh Lal and made a murderous assault on him, as a result of which he was injured critically. While Shamsher was caught on the spot along with a sharp-edged weapon, the other accused had managed to flee. The special municipal magistrate observed that "we are living in a democratic set up where rule of law is the hallmark of our constitution and in a civilized society, perpetrators of heinous crime are required to be dealt with heavy hand."
The court said that bail to the accused at this stage would definitely scuttle investigation. "The accused shall influence the witness and temper with the evidence and this way, cause of society and public interest will be defeated," he added. Thus keeping in view the enormity of the crime committed and nature of allegations, the judge said the petitioners did not deserve bail and dismissed the same. |
