DC discusses Navratra festival arrangements
Navratra festival to commence from March 23

JAMMU, Mar 17- Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Sanj-eev Verma convened a meeting of senior officers and members of Navratra Festival Celebration Committee to discuss the arrangements for ensuing Navratra festival commencing from March 23 here today. Among others, Joint Director Information Jammu Soujanya Sharma, SE PDD Vinod Sharma, SP South Rajes-hwar Singh, CMO Jammu Dr. Javed Chib, Chief Health Officer JMC Dr. Vinod Sharma, Deputy Controller Civil Defence Vijay Khajuria, XEN PHE Ashok Gandotra, ARTO Mohd Saleem, Pujari Bahu Temple Hemant Mag-otra, other senior officers attended the meeting.
It was informed in the meeting that on March 31, Ram-namvi procession Rath Yatra will start from Shri Raghunath Ji Temple and passing through Raghunath Chowk, Vir Marg, Rajinder Bazar, Kanak Mandi, Purani Mandi, Link Road, Jain Bazaar, Dhounthly Bazaar, Panjthirti, Mubarak Mandi, Chowk Chabootra, Pacca Danga, Moti Bazaar, Raj Tilak Road shall finally conclude at Raghunath Ji Temple.
The meeting was told that District Administration is making adequate arrangements for the upcoming festivals of Navratra to attract the pilgrim tourists from across the country. It was decided in the meeting that JMC shall ensure sanitation and discourage use of poly-thene bags during the festival days, while PHE department was asked to ensure adequate water supply at the main venues for the convenience of the devotees. Deputy Commissioner directed Power Department to ensure proper lighting arrangements in addition to un-interrupted power supply to all the temples in Jammu city though out the Navratra festival. He enjoined upon the concerned departments to make adequate medical facilities, adequate security and traffic arrangements and provision for extra transportation for the convenience of the people during the festival days. The Deputy Commissioner said that all the steps are being taken by the administration in close coordination with the organizers to make the event a grant success.
