J&K Forest wins, to face Bank in final on Mar 20 | 2nd Rajiv Gandhi Gold Cup Football | | Early Times Report JAMMU , Mar 17 : Jammu and Kashmir Forest XI today outplayed Jammu and Kashmir Police by two goals to one to qualify for the final of the 2nd Rajiv Gandhi Gold Cup Football Tournament, organised by All J&K Indira Gandhi People's Association at GGM Science College ground, here. Now, in the final, slated to be held on March 20 at 3 pm at the same venue, J&K Forest shall take on another professional side of J&K Bank. Earlier, in the second semifinal, played today, J&K Forest defeated fighting Jammu and Kashmir Police 2-1. To gain early lead so as to build pressure on the opponent, Forest scored two goals that too in a span of two minute. It was Ashiq Mushtaq who helped the side taken an invincible lead netting the ball in 8th and 10th minute of the match. However, Police despite kept on fighting for the recovery throughout the game, but to their dismay, the cops could not do much. And, in the 71st minute skipper, Ajay converted a penalty shootout into goal just to reduce the margin. Despite their victory, J&K Forest suffered a major jolt when Ashiq Mushtaq shown a red card in the 74th minute. Mansoor was also punished with a yellow for foul play. Three men from J&K Police, Ranjay, Vinay Kumar and Asif were also penalize with a yellow by the center referee, Suresh Kumar. Today's match was officiated Suresh Kumar, Rajesh Sumbria, Rohit Gupta and Anil Kumar. Second semifinal was witnessed besides others by former MLC, SM Gill, Zameel Thakur, Fiyaz Alam, Harbans Lal, David Masih, Yusuf Don and Narinder Gupta. |
