3/18/2012 11:54:00 PM
Early Time Report
JAMMU, Mar 18: It is not Kashmiri Pandits but various more organizations from Jammu region are demanding constitution of Board for management of religious places and shrines in the state.
Though Kashmiri Pandits for several years have been demanding the constitution of Board for protection of Hindu Shrines and Religious Places in Valley for their protection and management, the Hindu organizations from Jammu have also joined them demanding a Shrine and Temples Board be constituted by government for protection of various other Hindu shrines in Jammu region.
Jammu Kashmir Kranti Dal is the first organization which along with other organizations of the region including Shiv Sena had demanded that government should pass a law for formation of a Board for the management and protection of Hindu Shrines in the state on the pattern of Mata Vaishno Devi and Shri Amarnath Shrine Board.
The general secretary of Kranti Dal Preetam Sharma said that the government should constitute a Board for protection and management of all shrines in the state on the pattern of other religious boards.
Kranti Dal as well as activists of other Hindu organizations from Jammu region also joined the hunger strike launched by All Parties Migrant Coordination Committee here last year. Justifying the passage of the Bill Shiv Sena activist Ashok Dewan said that passage of Bill has become imperative as the money generated from donations at these shrines can properly be utilized for their welfare as well as setting up of public institutions like colleges, hospitals and universities in the region.
To press their demand for Constitution Shrine Board only yesterday president Sarv Shakti Sewak Sanstha, Machil Yatra Management, Banwari Lal Sharma called on Governor N N Vohra and demanded that a Shrine Board be constituted for Shree Chandi Mata Machil Yatra for the proper management of the annual yatra to the holy shrine.
The present management Committee in its memorandum to Vohra has shown its total inability to run the yearly yatra with the increasing rush of pilgrims every year. Sharma intimated Governor that the yatra has surpassed 1,50,000 last year and it will be increasing day by day with hundreds of pilgrims from abroad also visiting the holy shrine to pay darshan. According to Sharma the donations paid by pilgrims for the holy shrine have also touched now crores of rupees and the government have no problem in taking over the management of the shrine for creating best facilities for the pilgrims.
Though Governor has not given any assurance to Sharma regarding the formation of the Board, the demand is gaining momentum as more and more organizations from Jammu region too support constitution of Shrine Board for the management of the shrines and temples in the region.
