| Huge 73-run win for Physics and Electronics | | Inter-department Sports Meet of JU | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar, 19: Department of Physics and Electronics today registered a big 73-run victory over Department of English to move into the second round of the ongoing cricket tournament which is part of the inter-department sports meet of University of Jammu on the campus, here.
Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Physics and Electronics set a target of 159 runs for the loss of four wickets, which, in reply, English Department could not chase and bowled out for 85 runs in 17.1 overs. Rakesh Prasher played superb innings of 98 runs coming off just 58 deliveries studded with 13 boundaries and one six. Mukesh and Rajan contributed 14 runs each. From English Department, Chander, Stanzin and Jeet Singh shared one wicket each. Later, Department of English batsman could stay long on the wicket resulting into whole side bowled out for just 85 runs in 17.1 overs. Rajan was most successful bowler from Physics and Electronics with three wickets giving away just eight runs in 2.1 overs he bowled. Neeraj, Ajay, Narotam and Arun shared apiece each.
Today's match was officiated by Vijay Dogra and Rajeev Sharma while Satpal was scorer.
Meanwhile, in another match of the day, Department of Sanskrit got walkover Department of Punjabi.
