'Tees Din Sitamber Ke' staged during Drama Festival | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar, 19: "Tees Din Sitamber Ke," the stage play, is an intellectual game of cat-and-mouse that toys, not so much with its audience's emotions, but with its thought processes, beliefs and sense of belief. Unless you live under a rock, and perhaps even if you do, you have an opinion about the fast fading family values and the attendant history of sexual abuse. "Tees Din…" is set in a milieu that began to recognize the comprehensive, organized and intentional failure of the family system and its leaders to protect its children. The tale of 'Mala' - the victim of child sex abuse - is narrated in a form and style which is easily comprehendible. 'Tees Din…' shows how children can be exploited by their own immediate relations and what repercussions this abuse has on their psyche. The mute suffering of 'Mala', the silence of her mother - Shanta -to this abuse and the change that the play witnesses with the entry of an outsider - Deepak - is what 'Tees Din…' is all about. Portrayed on stage by Heena Arora, Reetu Manhas, Aaditya Bhanu, Vinay Daggar, Sumit Sudan and Kamaljeet Singh 'Tees Din…' was made watchable by its director Aaditya Bhanu. Originally written by Mahesh Dattani, its Hindi translation has been done by Pritam Katoch for 'Lakshya' and was staged as part of Cultural Academy's Annual Drama Festival 2012. |
