Ramban XI enters semis of Police Martyrs' T20 | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 19: Ramban XI today qualified for the semifinals after they outplayed Doordarshan XI by four wickets in the ongoing 2nd Police Martyrs T20 Cricket Cup under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Police at MA Stadium, here. Two sides of Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police and Engineers XI have already made it to the last four stages of the tournament. Earlier, in the third quarterfinal, Ramban XI outplayed Doordarshan by four wickets in a close contest. Batting first, Doordarshan scored 106 runs in the stipulated overs, with Suresh and Rajeev Batra being the main contributors with 30 and 21 runs in their respective accounts. Sanjay Koul also contributed 18 runs to the total. From Ramban XI, Tausif was most successful bowler who took four important wickets giving away 21 runs in his four over spell, while Shabaz bagged two and Shafqat claimed one. In reply, Ramban chased the target in 18.2 overs by losing six wickets to qualify for the semifinals. Tausif scored 27 runs, while Shafqat made 24 runs. From Doordarshan XI, Virender took two wickets, while Rajesh, Girdhari and Bunty shared apiece each. For his all-round performance, Tausif was declared man of the match. In another match of the day, Kishtwar thrashed Doda by seven wickets. Winning the toss and batting first, Doda XI bundled-out for a paltry total of 84 runs in 15.2 overs. Raja (21), Faizal (16) and Irfan (13) were the main contributors. Sachin was pick of the bowlers from Kishtwar, who scalped five wickets conceding just 15 runs, while Rashid claimed two wickets. In reply, Kishtwar XI, reached the required target in just 10.1 overs by losing three wickets in the process, thus registered a big win by seven wickets. Arshad was top scorer with 31 runs, hitting seven magnificent boundaries in it, while Sohail and Asif contributed 17 and 15 runs respectively to the winning cause. From Doda XI, Asif took all three wickets to fell. Sachin of Kishtwar XI was adjudged man of the match for his five-wicket haul. Today's matches were officiated by penal of officials including JD Singh, Sadiq Hussain Malik, Vijay, Sohail, Yogesh Sharma and Shashi Pal. |
