| NYC volunteers demand Governor's intervention | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 19: Continuing their protest against the ignorant attitude of state govt towards NYC's, volunteers of J&K has taken a serious note on this attitude.
Today NYC volunteers of Jammu Division held a strong protest dharna outside the Governor house, Jammu.
Early morning a large number of volunteer assembled at main Chowk Panjtrithi and held a dharna outside Governor House. The whole dharna was held under the leadership of Gourav Bazala, Jagdeep Singh, Vikas Suddan, Anu Verma, Archana Sharma and Sukvinder Kour.
Gourav said that 8000 volunteers of J&K State were deployed by J&K Govt. under the scheme NYC, by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Govt. of India. These volunteers were deployed in different departments of J&K State that are Rural Dev. Deptt, Youth Services & Sports, Tourism Deptt, Finance Deptt., Municipal Corporation, Social Welfare, Shrine Board, D.C. Office, NHRM, Management Disaster, Education etc.
NYC representative of all districts of Jammu Division said that all the deployed volunteers worked as a Govt. employees in different deptt. But Govt. authority announced that their volunteers job's time period is going to be finished on 31st of March but it is before completion of their job's time periods i.e. 2 years.
All these volunteers are highly educated and Govt. recruited them on the basis of their merit. All the volunteers played a crucial role in Panchayati elections and fulfilled various scheme of ground level and also bridged the gap between the people and govt.
NYC volunteer alleged that the most of the volunteer are going to be over-aged and because of this scheme 8000 unemployed and well educated youth of state who turned out to be bread earners of their entire family.
NYC leaders said that they have started their agitation on 15th Feb. 2012 but state govt. is playing a very lenient role towards future of NYC volunteers which is showing deaf and dumb character of state govt. They had demanded from the Governor to interfere in this matter and resolve this issue as soon as possible.
JKNPP leaders, Bhim Singh (chairman JKNPP) along with Anita Thakur (gen. secy NPP), Pushvinder Singh Manhas (sr. Vice President YP), Partap Singh Jamwal (Provincial President NPSU) and Th. Vriender Singh (President JU) reached the dharna which is organized by NYC volunteers.
Addressing the gathering Prof. Bhim Singh said that NPP have supported this agitation from the very beginning as a NYC youth is burning in the fire of discrimination, state govt. have totally ignore the voice of innocent youth and showed rigged character. |
