JKSWDC organizes awareness camp | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Mar 19: J&K State Women's Development Corporation (JKSWDC) in collaboration with J&K State Information Commission organized a one day Mega awareness camp at Kalam, Kari Centre Society Janipur, Jammu today for women of our state regarding the Schemes being run by JKWDC and application of Right to Information Act. The camp was inaugurated by the chief guest Sh.G.N.Sufi (IRS Rtd) Chief information Commissioner J&K. Dr. S. K. Sharma State Information Commissioner, Dr. Naheed Soz, Managing Director JKWDC and Mohd. Sayeed Registrar State information Commission were also present on the occasion. Besides dignitaries camp was also attended by the women officers/officials from, Social welfare, Information, Education, Employment, Rural Development Deptts and students from Kalam kari Centre Society Janipur Jammu. Sh.G.N.Sufi (IRS Rtd.) Chief Information Commissioner J&K in his address gave an overall view of the historic RTI Act which is instrumental in effective delivery mechanism in different Deptts of our state and termed it as an instrument for the common masses to avail the benefits enshrined in the fundamental rights of our constitution. Dr. S.K.Sharma State information Commissioner deliberated upon the details of the rights and duties of the society and public servants under RTI act towards achievements of the desired goals. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Naheed Soz Managing Director JKWDC also welcomed the commission for the efforts towards organizing such mega camp in collaboration with State information Commission represented by people from all walks of life and gave brief resume of the schemes being implemented by JKWDC. She thanked Poornima Chowdhary patron Kalam Kari Centre Society Janipur, Jammu for organizing camp on behalf of the WDC and Information Commission. She impressed upon the women below poverty line to come forward and avail the benefits of the schemes being implemented by WDC. She said that so far Corporation has conducted 583 Awareness camps in various districts and has trained 2125 beneficiaries under Vocational/Skill up gradation/training programmes and have been provided loan at the nominal rate of interest for establishing income generating units. Dr. Soz also stated that in addition to training, WDC is also promoting production of Jute Prashad bags in view of ban on polythene bags as well as ready market available through Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Katra wherein the numbers of pilgrims have crossed one million mark. Besides the schemes the participants were also sensitized about their socio-legal rights such as Right to Education, Health, Nutrition, Female feticide and Bias against the girl child etc. She also appreciated the exemplary work of the State Information Commission in bringing out the truth before the society for social audit under the said act. Near about 500 women from different deptts. and civil society participated in the said camp. |
