IGP (Rail) blames SP GRP Kashmir for 'mass transfers' in one go | | | Sumit Sharma
Jammu, Mar 19: Asserting about the directions for the transfers, the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Railway Zahoor Chisti today said that he had directed SP GRP Kashmir for transfers in railway but in phased manner. "The instructions were given in view of that a large number of locals should not be posted near their home stations and in view of the enhancing the security grid, he said. The statements came in from IGP (Railways) following news item having title 'Mass transfers in Railway Police, Government upset, IGP keeps order in abeyance' appeared on ET's edition of 18 March. Speaking to ET Correspondent, IGP (Railways) said that by deploying a large number of locals near their home stations, the department cannot afford to keep railway track, railway stations un- attended which would be detrimental to security concerns. Shifting all blame on SP GRP, he said that SP GRP Kashmir had issued an order affecting 'mass transfers' in one stroke that would certainly and obviously lead to operational inconvenience at provincial level. "Based on these reasons, orders issued by SP GRP Kashmir were kept in abeyance till the matter would be properly discussed by him with his SDPOs and SHOs. The standing decision needs to be implemented by SP GRP Kashmir in a phased manner instead, he said. |
