| Army ready to deal with infiltration , ceasefire violations: GOC 14 Infantry Division | | | Early Times Report
Uri (Baramulla), Mar 19 :The army is fully prepared to meet as infiltration threat from across the LOC as the fencing on the borders has been damaged because of this year's heavy snowfall, GOC 19 Infantry Division, Major general, Bipin Rawat told media persons.
The GOC said the border fencing gets damaged every year due to snowfall, but this year because of rather heavy snowfall the damage to the LOC fencing has been heavy.
"We are maintaining 24X7 vigil on the LOC to guard against infiltration as the training camps have not been dismantled by the militant groups across and these are still going on there.
With the spring season the mountain snows start melting and that is when the threat of infiltration becomes real.
But, we are fully prepared to meet the challenge", Major General Rawat said.
The GOC said some posts in the higher reaches are usually vacated by the army during the winter months as no human movement is possible at such places.
"We have started re-occupying those pickets and any violation of ceasefire or infiltration bid will be met with force and put down effectively", the GOC said. |
