Strike on PM Employment Package issue for KP in J-K continues | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 19 : Protesting against the state government's "delay" in implementation of the Prime Minister's employment package for youth of the displaced community, Kashmiri Pandit youths continued their strike and protest dharna for the seventh consecutive day today. Led by Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) president R K Bhat, over 200 activists held protest demonstrations and continued with their dharna . A massive protest was held with all the KP organisations, including social, religious, political and non political ones, joining in support of the ongoing struggle of the KP youths on their survival issue. "The employment package was announced long back in April, 2008 by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, but it has not yet been fully implemented in the state", Bhat told reporters. He alleged that of the 6,000 jobs announced under the package, only 1,438 posts have been filled up so far. "It clearly shows discrimination against the KP youth at the hands of the state administration. Since the last two decades after KPs displacement, we have not been given our employment share in the state and central governments", he asserted. Appealed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for his personal intervention on the matter, Bhat said, "We want the CM to take a serious note of our dharna and direct the concerned authorities for speedy implementation of his cabinet decision", he said. |
